Pokemon Sword and Shield Day 1 Sales outperforms Let’s Go first two day sales “by a lot”

Pokemon Sword and Shield being the long awaited 8th-gen titles were expected to sell a lot, but the game has outperformed expectations by selling more on Day 1 than what Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee managed to do in its first two days.

According to BenjiSales, the game had a huge opening with Pokemon Sword and Shield physical copies in the US outselling Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee’s sales numbers for its for two days in just one.

It was previously reported that Nintendo had shipping a record number of copies of the games to retailers. With more sales reports coming in, the game is tipped by many to have the highest initial sales for a mainline Pokemon game.

However there’s one slight problem, the SKUs. Pokemon Sword and Shield has three individual SKUs including the double pack which might hinder its ability to qualify for any sales records by analysts like NPD. Otherwise according to Benji, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s sales record could very well be beat by the Pocket Monster giant.

Sounds like a huge win for Nintendo and Game Freak amidst the recent controversy.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available now on the Nintendo Switch.

From what I’m hearing, this month is already record breaking for Nintendo just between Pokemon & hardware sales

Wait, you mean a mainline pokemon game on the new hot system is selling well? No way.

I don't think it's that hard to outsell those two games since they were marketed as being more casual expereiences. I am interested in seeing how well it sells compared to XY or Diamond and Pearl.
