Odd fact: polar bears only have a pair of molar type teeth, the rest are sharp and designed for tearing.

I was in Barrow AK a month ago. An Inupiaq elder told us a story of his younger days when he was helping to cut up a Bowfin whale (out 'on the ice') when he looked up. A giant polar bear was standing next to him trying to tear a big piece away. The guy turned around and everyone had moved away and he was the only person at the whale. So he took his knife and helped the polar bear tear a big piece.

He asked the bear (in Inupiaq) "Is that enough?" The bear said "Hmmmph" and dragged the big piece away a couple hundred feet. There the bear ate his fill. Then he laid on top of the meat and went to sleep. Thought it was an interesting story.

My favorite conversation starter is to ask people how big of a bear they think they could wrestle
