This must be one of the biggest box office surprises of all time. Just a R-Rated movie was seen as almost impossible to gross over 1B but now Joker doing it while being a character study and not a action movie, and not releasing in China grossing 1B is fucking unbelievable.
WB must be jerking so much of because of this movie, a 1B grossing movie on a 55M budget. The movie got good reviews, won a Golden Lion, now grossing 1B and now the last thing it needs is a Oscar Nomination.

I just want to point out how much money Todd Phillips has probably made between this and the Hangover series. Most of his movies have been relatively low budget and R rated, but his movies are making marvel levels of money. Dude must be loaded now. It'll be interesting to see what he makes next cause I'm sure WB will give him complete control over anything at this point.
