Ernest Scared Stupid remains the best of the series

Ernest Scared Stupid was filmed right up the street from where I grew up in Nashville. I used to walk up there every day and on several occasions got to meet the man himself. He was always humble and gracious and super pleased to meet us neighborhood kids.

I went to the same high school as Jim Varney and actually had the same English teacher, albeit years apart. The teacher told us a story about Mr. Varney one day about how he was given a test I believe it was in essay form, and proceeded to not only answer the question, in short form, but then in his answer ask a different question that he felt was more important, and proceed to answer that one in long form. Even if that’s just an anecdote, I think it’s neat, and I’ve always admired good old Ernest a little more since I heard that.
