Deadline has revealed that Neill Blomkamp’s next feature film starring Taylor Kitsch (True Detective, John Carter) will begin shooting sometime in March in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Here is the synopsis of the science fiction thriller.

In Inferno, Taylor Kitsch plays a cop who is called to investigate a seemingly ordinary murder in the New Mexico desert. The arrival of the FBI confirms his suspicions that something bigger – perhaps extraterrestrial – is at play. The hunt for the killer puts him face-to-face with a humanoid beast who will stop at nothing to exterminate the one witness to the crime.

They also revealed the distribution deals that AGC Studios secured at the American Film Market.

Among the offshore sales for Inferno are France (Metropolitan), Germany & Switzerland (Leonine), Greece (Odeon), Portugal (NOS Lusomundo), Spain (Tripictures), UK (Entertainment Film Distribution), Eastern Europe (Vertical Entertainment), Russia (Top Film), Latin America (Sun Distribution), Indonesia (PT Prima), Korea (Joy N Content), Phillipines (Pioneer), Singapore (Clover), Taiwan (Movie Cloud), Thailand (Sahamongkolfilm), Vietnam (Noori Pictures), Israel (United King), Middle East (Selim Ramia) and Turkey (BG F). Talks are ongoing for other markets.

Blomkamp has directed cool flicks such as District 9 and Elysium, but over the last couple of years had jumped from Alien 5 to Greenland to RoboCop Returns to finally land on Inferno.

Hopefully, there aren’t any more hiccups in the future for Neill.

When he originally announced his exit from RoboCop Returns Neill suggested that MGM would move along without him and would mean that a new director will likely be announced in the near future.

A domestic release date for Inferno has yet to be announced.

If you ever wanted to see what his scrapped Alien sequel was going to be like, check out his short film Zygote with Dakota Fanning.

It's basically a revised version of a scene involving a grown up Newt and blind Hicks fighting off a Xenomorph
