Several Vizio smart TV owners have taken to Twitter to share their discontent that Disney's new streaming channel Disney Plus is not working on their TVs. Vizio recognizes that Disney Plus isn't working, but it hasn't offered an explanation, a fix, or an estimated time when Disney Plus may become available. Some Vizio owners have suggested that the built-in Chromecast media streaming systems in Vizio smart TVs are on outdated firmware, and that Vizio hasn't rolled out the appropriate version of Chromecast's firmware that supports Disney Plus. Several Vizio TV owners hoping to check out Disney Plus are reporting on Twitter that their TVs aren't working with Disney's new streaming channel that was released on Tuesday. It works with AirPlay, so at least there's that, but what about people on Android?Tweet Embed: //twitter.com/mims/statuses/1194338127751434242?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Not a dumb question. I'm trying to cast to my Vizio and it's showing that Disney+ isn't supported on this device. Strange being that the TV isn't even 2-years old. pic.twitter.com/QoCdGP0KJL Vizio has acknowledged that Disney Plus doesn't work on its SmartCast TVs as a built-in app, or via casting. The company hasn't offered much of an explanation, or even if Disney Plus will be available eventually. If you have an AirPlay 2 compatible SmartCast TV, you may be able to AirPlay Disney+ content to the TV.https://t.co/VmPce5PjKA Vizio said in its tweet and support page that Apple users can use AirPlay 2 to watch Disney Plus, but that leaves anyone who doesn't have an Apple device without access to the new service. Business Insider has asked Vizio for more information regarding reasons why Disney Plus isn't working, and whether there are any fixes. The company did not immediately reply. Some users have suggested that the built-in Chromecast in Vizio smart TVs have an outdated firmware version — 1.34. Regular Chromecast users received an update to version 1.36 that's said to contain the compatibility for Disney Plus.

Another reason why you should buy a separate device to stream. Smart TV apps are trash.

Shit, my 5 year old Vizio smart TV wasn't smart enough to handle 2019 grade streaming apps without crashing anyway. We bought a Roku for $99 and it's much better at streaming than the TV ever was.
