I wasn't even a Lakers fan but I remember his announcement and I was shocked. I'm glad he has been able to live on and still upset that Eazy E died a few years later from the same thing.
This actually reminds me that when I was 9 I ignorantly said at the dinner table something like “he’s getting what he deserved for having unsafe sex” and my mom shit that shot down on the spot. She said diseases aren’t “punishments” and that no one “deserves” any sickness. Totally shamed me and I’m glad she did it.
