It's a common practice for cheap calculator manufacturers. Really tho, did the battery run out? It often lasts longer than calculator itself. To be clear, I'm not justifying lie, it's still a bad thing, but for most people it doesn't matter in this case. Well, unless you bought a cheap calculator only for the panel to use in some kind of a project.
