I hope that tall people genuinely don't mind being asked to reach high shelves. I'm vertically challenged and grocery stores don't enjoy when you climb their shelves to reach the top. I always have a few moments of anxiety as I look around for/hope that a friendly tall person walks by so they can help me.
I'm 5'2". In the grocery store the other day, a much smaller elderly woman asked for my help to reach something. It felt awesome to be the long being for once!
I work in a supermarket, and the fact is that I get asked by shorter customers (I’m 5’11) to reach for items on a top shelf all the time, and the fact is, it’s one of my favourite things to do at work, as the customer is pleased that I got what they wanted, and I get to feel like a big man, everybody wins :)
