This feels sad...

I think people often do not realize that they are making a positive impact on the world. Try to trace whatever it is you do back to how food gets to stores and then to people, no matter how mundane your part of the process is.

I work in IT, fixing the computers of people who sell concrete testing and construction contracts. That concrete is used to build roads. Trucks use the roads to get food from farms to stores. People get to eat. The janitors keep the office clean, the maintenance team keeps the building functioning. It's all part of the whole gets food to peoples' tables. It's fundamentally important. You can't plant trees or clean up beaches if you're starving.

Update: For the people out there who think that their line of work does more harm than good, it's okay. You're not perfect, and the world you were born into isn't perfect. Sometimes you just have to do what you can to get by. Give back where you can. You might never see it, but your small kindnesses can do a world of good. Sometimes, giving someone a little encouragement, or even just being a good listener, is all it takes to set that person on a path to becoming a doctor, an environmentalist, a school counselor, or any of a number of paths their life might take. A donation of socks could save a homeless person from freezing to death, and they could go on to help other homeless people get back on their feet. Noticing that someone is doing self harm and pointing it out to someone who can help could save a life. There are so many little things that you can do to make the world a better place, and it's all of these little things that add up that really make a difference. So do what good you can. It is more than enough.

Men literally only want one thing and it’s fucking disgusting.
