Whatever your politics may be, with a time-sensitive issue like climate change we really don't have the convenience of supporting a candidate who may or may not deliver. Bernie has been bringing attention to this issue for decades, and has the boldest plan—The Green New Deal—to address it.
But we all know that a president can't pass legislation without congress. In light of that, Bernie's the only candidate who has said he will wield the office of the presidency to rally people and apply overwhelming political pressure where necessary in order to pass our agenda. If your representative doesn't want to pass the Green New Deal, then President Sanders might like them to have a word with the many thousands of people he's rallied outside their office—and that's the action that climate change demands.
I can think of a lot of issues, like healthcare, where we aren't likely to see significant improvements unless we have a president who has long demonstrated that they are willing to take on those who profit from our dysfunctional system.
