I was 16 when I got pregnant and was kicked out. I lived in a tiny efficiency apartment down the street from my mom’s. One of the little girl’s I used to babysit was really excited to see my apartment and her mom said I could show my place to her and her brother. I took them to my place and then walked them home. Two hours later they came back with their mom and a week’s worth of groceries. They had gone home and told her I didn’t have any food. I will never forget it.
My family was so poor at one point that we used to go and eat at my neighbours house all the time because we would spend everything on the rent, and even then we were over a thousand bucks behind. I ended up running away due to separate issues, after being homeless I got taken it by other relatives. Turns out though that they lost the house and also had to go homeless. Not sure what happened to my dad now. I'm grateful to have had such amazing neighbours. Lots of people are willing to give, if you're brave and kind enough to ask!

If someone had the humility to literally knock on my door and ask for food... I’d probably buy them food too
