The build up of and fleshing out of Dwight, especially in the last season, can probably attributed to the failed Schrute Farms spinoff that ultimately wasn’t picked up by NBC. It was teased in the Aunt Shirley funeral episode and introduced a lot of Dwight’s periphery that hadn’t be explored yet. Dwight was intended to carry his own show and they needed a more rounded character to draw that.

Will forever get emotional when he fires Jim and Pam so that they’ll get severance packages. Deep down, he was always a great guy.

After my first watch, I payed a lot more attention to Jim And Dwight versus Pam and Jim and I have to say, it was really enjoyable.
