In Mission Impossible 2, Tom Cruise suggested to John Woo to have this shot during the knife fight scene, no CGI was used and a steel cable was attached to the knife.
They actually tied the dudes arm back with a rope so that the knife was just barely able to reach Cruise’s eye. He is actually trying with all his strength to stab Tom Cruise in the eye so that tense shaking you see in that shot is real strength being held back. Fucking intense.
