My dad used to do this and I still dont understand it, you leave the plastic on to keep your item looking pristine, but by having the plastic still on you make it look like a piece of shit anyway. What's the point?
That plastic is not meant to be left on. It protects the surface during shipping, but daily use gets dust and other tiny things stuck underneath, making it actually worse for the laptop in the long run. Always peel it off, especially for mobile devices, and double especially for touchscreens.
