Can you imagine if a Uber driver said this to you and your buddies? “So most of you won’t live, some mighty but only the strongest ones with the willpower to fight for you life”.

A professor who brags about the number of people who fail their class is probably an arsehole.
A professor who brags about how hard their course is, but how high the pass rate is, is probably quite good at their job.
EDIT: Upon reflection, I chucked a probably in there.
