Guyger was off-duty but still in uniform after a long shift in Sept. 2018 when she fatally shot Botham Jean, a 26-year-old accountant from the Caribbean nation of St. Lucia.

In the hallway outside the courtroom where Guyger was tried, a crowd celebrated and said "black lives matter" in raised voices.

She was comforted by a bailiff who gave her tissues and seemingly spoke words of comfort before Guyger walked out with her stunned attorneys.

The family of Botham Jean hugs each other after hearing that Amber Guyger was found guilty of murder.

"This is a huge victory, not only for the family of Botham Jean, but this is a victory for black people in America," said Jean family attorney Lee Merritt.

“Although we got a murder conviction, their lives will never be the same,” said Jean family attorney Daryl K. Washington.

If she shot a warning or not knowing what she was shooting at, that would more closely resemble a manslaughter case.”. »

EU brings in 'right to repair' rules for appliances

Authored by bbc.com

Household appliances will become easier to repair thanks to new standards being adopted across the European Union.

From 2021, firms will have to make appliances longer-lasting, and they will have to supply spare parts for machines for up to 10 years.

This creates waste and fuels global warming through the greenhouse gases created in the manufacturing process for new machines. »

If Hunter Biden Is Fair Game, So Are Trump’s Kids

But one must accept many, if not all, of Thompson’s premises to defend Trump against accusations of wrongdoing.

Now think of what it means to accept those premises: that there would be nothing wrong with the next Democratic president taking identical actions in turn.

And she could do this to the Trump kids even if one of them were running against her for president––indeed, it would not even matter if her motives were obviously venal. »
