I have heard that shooting in the leg is a big no no, the legs are too easy to miss.

As I understand it, officers are trained to aim for center mass. Limbs are harder targets to hit and run a higher risk of a miss and potentially harming a bystander. Shooting low could result in shrapnel or billet ricochet. Don’t get me wrong, police use of excessive force is wrong. I personally believe tasers should be an officers first line of defense if failure to deescalate a situation.
