A friend of mine has a disability and can't drive, and tried to take the bus home from an appointment. Trying to use what was available, be independent, etc etc.
Construction moved the bus stop, the brochures/online schedules didn't show where the new stop was, so she ended up having to walk a really long way to a stop she did know to get the bus from there.
If your city has great public transport, sure! If it's like mine where it'd take TWO HOURS for a 20 minute drive to work, or having to go 45 minutes out of your way because the buses don't go over a certain bridge---
Actually I hate driving but do so out of necessity to get to work and elsewhere. One place I lived years ago had a bus stop right outside my apartment complex. That was really convenient and I used the hell out of it. Always took the bus to work and only drove on the weekends.
