I used to teach at a preschool surrounded by bushland, so we got some really interesting insects. One day we found one of these psychedelic looking caterpillars https://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_loopers/WattleCup.htm All the kids were admiring it and then one of them squished it out of love/enthusiasm/excitement. All the kids and staff were morose after that. We all wanted to cry. Probably one of the coolest creatures I've ever seen. A few years later, we found one of these which luckily evaded being squished: https://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_loopers/FourSpottedCup.htm
