My understanding is that while this is not a normal tactic, that the union is supposed to pick up the tab for that medical insurance during the strike. Like it's in writing that thats how its supposed to be, though it's not often done, because of how it looks (such as now).
GM is the worst car company. Cars last no fucking time at all, and they lay off employees at the drop of a hat. Laid off my dad after 10 years of hard work there.
