Juan Catalan was put on death row and spent nearly 6 months in jail for the murder of a teenage girl, until his lawyer found unused footage from HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm” that proved he’d been at a Dodger’s game with his 6 year old daughter, on the night of the murder.
Is this the story about a relative trying to find evidence of the game the accused guy was attending? It was a documentary and it was lucky there was a comedian actor who was doing a skit at the game and they got video tape of the accused guy passing by him. It was a struggle to prove his innocence and was a heartwarming story at the end. Forgot the name of the documentary.
The name of the docurentary is called "Long Shot" and is on NetFlix. (Thanks u/JaxGal17)
Even the footage of him at the game wasn’t enough to clear him though due to the time between when the footage was shot and the murder occurring. Luckily he made a phone call just before leaving the stadium around the time of the murder and his phone pinged from the tower closest to Dodger stadium.
This kind of confuses me. Since it was a murder case, why didn’t they just get footage from one of the 10,000 security cams at Dodgers stadium when he walked through the front gates or through the vendor walkway thingies? Why did they have to use a weird clip from HBO?
