My Dad 1969 Bronx, NY. Speaking against the Vietnam War. He became an Anthropologist/Archeologist, was taken hostage on 2 separate digs, saw a man trampled by water buffalo, crawled into a leopard den for ancient pottery and so much more. He was my own Indiana Jones.

My condolences on your loss. He sounds like he was a great man and I appreciate you sharing a little piece with all of us.

I showed and read all of the comments to my Mom and she says thank you so much. He never knew or saw himself as how wonderful he was or how much of an impact he had on his students as well as everyone he met. It's what made him amazing and my hero. He was always humble. And yes he did finish his memoir before he passed but my mom doesn't know if she wants to publish it. I am so proud to be his daughter and been lucky enough to call such an awe inspiring person my Dad. Thank you for sharing such love for him so I can share it with my Mom. She lost her best friend of 33 years and still amazed how he effected people. Thank you Reddit. Some other high lights of his adventures, he climbed out a window of a hut when he heard his guides planning on killing him and taking his stuff, because he made sure to learn Hindi before that dig. He had to scramble up a tree from a herd of wild Indian elephants and he fled Iran before the fall of the Shah and yes even more stories. I'll try to post more but I'm still in shock. Fuck Cancer!
