Since the person is blind I'm gonna say I hope this cat is just a racoon who has broken the system.

My cat is blind (and one-eyed) and I'm very myopic, I make lots of noises when I get near her so she'll know that it's me.
I call ourselves "the gang with barely two functioning eyes".
