One time I had to put up a judge's election signs to get out of a speeding ticket, and I brought my buddy (a black kid) with me, you know, make a day of it. So we're driving around our tiny Texas town, going to people's houses and asking permission to put the sign in the yard.
So I go to one lady's house, and my buddy stays in the car, I go knock on the door, she comes out looking old and mean as hell. I say "hi ma'am, is it okay if I put this sign in your yard for the election?"
She doesn't ask who the judge is or anything. She grimaces at me, peers around my shoulder I to my car, stared for a few seconds, then looks back and says, "that colored boy with you?" I said "...yeah he's my friend from school." She said, "then no." And shut the door on me lol

EDIT #2, TO ADDRESS THE JUDGE SIGN THING: Ok, so I was like 16 when this happened, so I don't know the specifics on how this went down, nor do i remember every detail. BUT, anyways, so i got a ticket, told my parents, blah blah blah. It wasn't my first one. So a lady down the street, friends with my mom, was talking with my mom and stuff, my mom brought up that i got a ticket. So the lady was like "who's the judge?" My mom told her, and she was like "oh I know him!" This lady knew all sorts of people, she had a photo of her with KISS, the band, just hanging out. I dont know what the fuck she did for a living. Long story short, she talked to that judge and worked a deal to where I would go around for a whole day and put these signs up, I had to get permission per house, etc. So i went, packed my 87 prelude trunk full of judge election signs, and off ke and my friend went. I have no idea if it was legal. It didnt get sentenced to me or anything, this shit was off the record for sure.
