Could I hold Jessie’s paw instead?

Hospital dogs are great. Last week I met one of those cancer-smelling dogs. It was a beagle, really friendly. Kept pawing at me and whining like he wanted to climb up on my lap. Nice dog.

I had some surgeries as a child and they were demonstrated for me on a large raggedy ann doll.
