There's a little-known American architect from the middle of the 20th century who designed and built houses similar in style to this one in Charlevoix, MI. His name was Earl Young and the houses are called mushroom houses. They're all over the place up there and ONLY located up there as the guy was from Charlevoix and refused to build anywhere else.
