ESPN did a “30 for 30” on the subject. The first twenty minutes you’re laughing at the stupidity of the players. By the end you pity the guys. They face pretty slim odds. It’s called “Broke”.

If you play for 3 years in the NFL, you are vested in their pension and will receive a benefit when you are 55, so they have some safety net in later life.
