Environmentalist and children’s television host Bill Nye tore into President Trump Donald John TrumpTrump watching 'very closely' as Portland braces for dueling protests WaPo calls Trump admin 'another threat' to endangered species Are Democrats turning Trump-like? MORE on Friday evening over his stance on climate change, arguing his administration is going in the “wrong direction.”

“Everybody, we have a chance to do this right, to save the world for humans. The earth’s going to be here no matter what we do. We want to save it for us,” Nye said on MSNBC. “The current administration is taking extraordinary steps in the wrong direction.”

Nye has been one of the most vocal critics of the president’s environmental policies, labeling his administration the “anti-science movement.”

Nye’s remarks come on the heels of July being declared the planet’s hottest month on record.

Trump has taken several steps that concern environmentalists, including withdrawing the U.S. from the 2015 Paris climate accord and pushing to roll back Obama-era energy regulations.

“His bluster is very troubling, and it makes it harder for everybody. Instead of being the world leader technologically in addressing climate change, the United States has become a pariah,” Nye said. “Having the administration continually fight against science is really troubling.”

The administration most recently raised eyebrows when it finalized a controversial rollback of protections for endangered species that, among other things, allows economic factors to be weighed before adding an animal to the list.

“It’s just sort of old-fashioned thinking, that somehow you can manage resources and eliminate species and ecosystems and still count on everything working okay,” Nye said. “When you reduce diversity in ecosystems, biodiversity, ecosystems are less resilient.”

This is the best Bill Nye quote in existence...

“By the end of this century, if emissions keep rising, the average temperature on Earth could go up another four to eight degrees. What I’m saying is the planet is on fucking fire! There are a lot of things we could do to put it out. Are any of them free? No, of course not. Nothing’s free, you idiots. Grow the fuck up. You’re not children any more. I didn’t mind explaining photosynthesis to you when you were 12. But you’re adults now, and this is an actual crisis, got it? Safety glasses off, motherfuckers.”
