Props to all the people in the original post who correctly called it that he was trying to scam you and keep most of the money for himself.
I wanted to chime in that I had been in a fraternity in college and there was one or two times that we hired a live band to perform at a party, I don't remember what the actual number was but we definitely paid them MUCH more than the $50 this asshat was trying to offer.
