There’s already precedent for this. California was an open carry state from the day it joined the Union on September 9th, 1850 until:
The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill that repealed a law allowing public carrying of loaded firearms...the bill was crafted in response to members of the Black Panther Party who were conducting armed patrols of Oakland neighborhoods that would later be termed copwatching. They garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched bearing arms upon the California State Capitol to protest the bill.
The real issue is not the guns being carried but, rather, who does the carrying.
Lol this is literally how gun controlled happened in California. Reagan got scared of black people arming themselves to protect their neighborhoods and communities.
