The hashtag "LeningradLindsey" trended on Twitter Thursday after Sen. Lindsey Graham Lindsey Olin GrahamThe Hill's Morning Report - Attacked repeatedly, Biden fires back Graham threat to bust panel rules roils Senate tensions Ocasio-Cortez says marginalized communities 'have no choice but to riot' MORE (R-S.C.) forced a controversial asylum bill through committee.

The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday advanced a bill to overhaul U.S. asylum laws, waiving committee rules to force the bill through to the full Senate, where it likely won’t get the 60 votes it needs to pass.

But Graham’s move to push the bill through the panel outraged Democrats who say the South Carolina senator broke the rules on how lawmakers take up legislation in order to move a partisan bill along.

Hundreds started using the hashtag invoking Leningrad — the Soviet-era name of the Russian city of St. Petersburg — slamming Graham for the move.

“#LeningradLindsey is breaking procedural code, lying to the American people, and has betrayed the principles this country was founded upon,” one person tweeted.

For those who don't remember, Graham switch from being a prominent Trump critic to being one of his most sycophantic defenders shortly after he admitted Russia hacked his campaign email. This hashtag is more fitting than we realize. https://www.cnn.com/2016/12/14/politics/lindsey-graham-hacking-russia-donald-trump/index.html

Hey Democrats, this is how you do messaging. People need to stop calling McConnell a turtle or whatever the fuck. It’s a caricature he loves because it absorbs people’s anger without addressing the conflict of interest or the corrupt intent. Hurdurr he eats leafy greens, who gives a fuck.

Moscow Mitch and Leningrad Lindsey pierce right to the core. More of this.

I feel like we've got to focus on Moscow Mitch.

Even if this does get to him, Graham flies off the handle regularly. He has had several super embarrassing meltdowns already. What do we gain from another?
