From interview with the photographer:

It was taken at a Victory Parade on May 9, 2007, on the Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, Russia,” he revealed.

He also explained why the veteran appears so upset in the photo and his hopes about tracking him down.

“The veteran was upset that he was behind the column with other veterans and could not catch up with them,” he said.

“Now I'm looking for this veteran. I hope that I will find him and find out his name.”

Also quite funny is the fact that many posted this picture praising American, British, Australian army etc. when in reality this is a Soviet veteran.

And judging by the fact that this was taken in 2007 and that men don’t live very long in Russia, I’m guessing this man has already passed. Though kind of hopeful he hasn’t and lives a good life.

Not this again. He’s upset because he couldn’t catch up with his column.

What a load of karma whoring.

It's not Victory Day. This guy was not the last of his squad, and the picture is over a decade old.
