Trump voters will vote for him no matter what. That 34%-36% is a lost cause. It’s the moderates and independents that they need.

“Stop calling us Nazi’s,” the maga hat wearing man yelled. “Telling people to go back where they came from or else they’ll end up in a concentration camp is nothing like what Hitler did.”

I've said it before and I'll say it again. It doesn't matter if it's a personal relationship, a work relationship, or a political relationship. There are just some really bad choices out there, and people still make up justifications to stay in the abusive relationship as the patsy. Sometimes they think that's how a relationship just is and they carry the abuse forward.

Unless you're mega wealthy and profiting from this administration, you're a patsy. You've been told that nobody will understand you like they do. You've been conditioned with repeated phrases over and over again, even if they don't mean anything apart from just being phrases that tie you more to the abuser. You'll be treated mean and kept keen with the promise of a nice life as you wonder just when that's going to start for you (and it never will if you keep doing what you're doing). And you've been treated like dirt while being told others have it worse and you should be grateful you don't have it as bad as them.

If you've ever wondered why some people keep going back to an abusive cheating spouse, or never look for another option in their abusive workplace, it's fear. Fear of being alone, fear of financial hardship. In politics (as it also is with the other two types of relationship I mentioned) it's the fear that people will think you're a gullible fool for sticking with the abuse for so long and even repeating the lies so vehemently.

As far as politics and 2020 goes, those people are a lost cause. Concentrate on the people not in the abusive relationship and show them how good things can ACTUALLY be.
