Susannah Martin was twice forced to submit to physical examination for evidence of a "witch's tit or physical protuberance which might give milk to a familiar." No such deformity was found in Susannah Martin but it was noted that "in the morning her nipples were found to be full as if the milk would come", but by late afternoon "her breasts were slack, as if milk had already been given to someone or something." This was an indication that she had been visited by a witch's familiar, and was clear evidence of guilt.[5]

Wow. That’s wildly effed up.
Can’t help but think she must have been one interesting woman to have made so many people so butthurt that they accused her of witchcraft constantly
What a terrible time. Thanks for sharing.

To be fair, the evidence against her was pretty solid:

Oh, hello cousin! I haven’t personally followed the paper trail back that far, but if familysearch is correct, she’s my 10th GGM also!
