Be Pilou Asbæk Dedicate your life to the art of dramatic acting, landing roles in some of the finest Danish productions and winning several prestigious awards along the way Be a huge GoT/ASOIAF fan and land the role of Euron, quite possibly the most badass pirate in all fiction literature, truly a role of a lifetime Get handed the most dogshit scripts ever, thinking to himself, “Is this for real? Are they seriously butchering Euron like this?” Realize it is for real, and yes, you have to play the sleaziest piece of shit character only a true dumbass could possibly conjure Be a class act, so you swallow your pride and do it anyway, despite knowing it’s fucking terrible and fans will hate it Deal with being super disappointed but not be able to say anything bad about it publicly or else risk your career

Yeah, you deserved better Pilou.

I still swear that somewhere down the line they wanted to suBVeRt ExPeCtaTIonS and decided to flip Jaime and Theon in the script.

Jaime dying protecting Bran - the boy he crippled in the event that kicked everything off - with Brienne coming to console him (dying in her arms) is such a perfect ending for him.

Theon honestly felt like he wasn't supposed to die, but rather be an ironic interpretation of the house words "what is dead may never die." The Ironborn scoff at him and call him weak, but ironically having been through hell, you cannot do anything to him that he hasn't experienced before. It felt like Theon already went through his tragedy and now he was supposed to get glory by defeating Euron and becoming the leader of the Greyjoys.

Instead, Theon died after doing basically nothing in the season (legit, even saving his sister is SUUUUUPER rushed and basically not shown on camera, taking less than 5 minutes of camera time and having zero impact on the plot) and being thrown to the wolves first chance the writers get whilst Jaime's motivations just get all sorts of fucked. His sister tries to assassinate her and his reaction is basically "that's my fetish" and he immediately rides to King's Landing with a massive boner ready. It feels like the writers were too obsessed with the main characters so they basically cut Theon's completely and Jaime's consistency was sacrificed for the sake of....fuck man, I don't even know. They could've honestly killed him in the Battle of Winterfell and it would've been just as meaningful.

That Jaime gets a "final boss battle" with a character he barely even knew...? That to me just screams he wasn't supposed to be there and Theon was initially intended to be there.
