Someone I know got to experience a not so fun outcome of this though.

Someone was temporarily living with her while they were (temporarily) separated from their husband.

She came home from work, and they were in an argument over the phone, speaker on. A while after ending the call and no longer answering, he shows up.

She was on the couch next to the locked security door, so he tried to sweet talk her into letting him in so he could talk some sense into his wife.

She explained no, because she could hear the phone conversation.

He politely and calmly pointed out that the she could only hear one side of the call, and doesn't know the full context.

She pointed out that the speaker was on, she could hear both sides.

He immediately dropped all pretense of calm, kicked a dent in the security door, and started angrily demanding to be let in.

Weirdly he didn't hang around once he realised she was actually calling the cops, and not just bluffing.
