We adopted our daughter from foster care 8 months ago, she hasn't said "I love you" back to me yet...she gave me this when I got home from work today.

First off, that is simply awesome beyond words. :) You have absolutely earned it!

Second, I've been through the foster care system. I've no idea what age your daughter is - I was 4-6 during that time in my life (now 42) - we don't unpack our emotions until we feel absolutely safe and cared for.

The point: Whatever you are doing, do more of it. You are doing it right!!! :)

This made me grin from ear to ear!

I’ve been with my guy for a couple of years now. He has a 9 year old daughter, and this year we will all become a family. Sadly her mother passed away when she was 5, but I have been taking care of full time since I met her when she was 7. Needless to say, she’s been through a lot.

I have never had children of my own, so this was a learning experience for everyone involved! He works full time 6 days a week, so I handle all the school stuff and everything else she needs. She’s sweet and smart, surprises me everyday, and I can’t believe how much I love her. She is for all intents and purposes, my daughter.

One of my happiest days was my first Mother’s Day that I got a homemade card from her that called me “mom”. It’s a feeling you just can’t describe. There have been other milestones, and we tell each other how much we love each other everyday, but there is something about that first “mom” that holds a special place in my heart.

Wow, that's a keeper. The card I mean, not the kid. Well, the kid too, obviously.

Never mind.

Just frame it and hang it on the wall.
