I don't know what kind of therapy this was, but that doesn't sound anything like what a therapist would day. To me, this sounds like something your girlfriend interpreted as the therapist saying.

Guys you really should look at OP's post history and comments on this very thread before siding with him.
There's bias here and a lot unsaid. Also OP has stated that the therapist didn't really say that. So.. X
