If anything, weird shit is how you keep the fans in after you’ve gained their trust. Otherwise, they get tired of getting the same flavor each time, and then associate the sameness with the brand.
Gotta say I've talked to some people who dont get the eternals decision, and I respond with "did you have any clue who the guardians of the Galaxy were before they made that movie?"
