So sad but so important to leave guide dogs to their business. When I was at uni there was a student with a guide dog who got spoiled and distracted. Nothing huge. Little pats. Talking to the dog. But the guide dog started wanting more and, cause humans are suckers, she got more attention.

In the end, the guide dog would follow the nice people to class and her owner would end up in the wrong lectures/tutorials. We eventually took turns in checking with her, which class she had to ensure she got to it. Her guide dog was eventually retired (5yrs old) and became a full time pet.

TLDR: uni friend’s guide dog stopped guiding her because she was distracted by love

Shoutout to everyone who understands the purpose of a guide dog and does not try to touch it
