One of the reasons why it came to "deporting" Jews on such a large scale (sending them to concentration camps in Europe) is because the rest of the world ignored what was happening in their countries. They came by boat loads to the USA and Canada and we turned them away to go back to their deaths. Similarily, many immigrants who are living illigally in the United States and those who are being detained at the boarder are fleeing violence, danger and unrest in their own countries.

I'm not saying this tweet is exactly hitting the nail on the head with it's hollocaust analogy, but I would hope that if I were in a situation where I felt I had to flee my country to another, I would be shown a sembalnace of humanity that ICE has not shown to those fleeing to the US.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Confused. Is this implying Jews fled to Germany and were put in camps? Did that happen?
