Where'd you put the 20 years you lost? LOL!

Been a month and change since I last checked in with a full progress post, so the quick details:

I'm 46yo, 5'10", and started with my pants in either 50s (on a good day) or 52s (on a "I'm feeling like I need some extra room" day).

Just yesterday, in a morning 4th of July sale, I bought my first pair of Size 36 jeans that I've worn since high school. Which was a damn long time ago.

I've talked a lot about what I'm doing in other posts so I won't bore anyone who's read it before, but basically, I'm usually OMAD, which these days is effectively a 22:2 IF ratio. I also eat a ketogenic diet --

And aside from the weightloss (and new clothes! I love shopping! I should probably stop! But it's hard!) I've had countless NSVs because of my new way of eating and the body that's shaping into something unfamiliar but exciting.

I went from slipped-disc, sciatica, pre-diabetes, severe sleep apnea, carpal tunnel, neuropathic pain, always sweating, running the A/C 24/7/365...

To pain-free, great blood/workup numbers, no apnea or snoring, always cold, never running the A/C (which it its own issue, since now I'm that annoying cold person) and feeling like I've been teleported into someone else's body -- in a good way. I have energy, I have pep, I can hang with my wife and kids and not feel like I'm in danger of... not being with my wife and kids.

The media likes to look at IF and keto and ask, "Is it sustainable?" All I know is that the way I used to be -- and the things I was doing to my body -- that was not sustainable. It certainly wasn't compatible with life -- not for long, at least, and not in any way I wanted to live

Over the past 7 months, I've relied heavily on advice and support from r/intermittentfasting and r/keto and I always try and hope to be able to give back.

I'm still on my journey -- and will be for quite some time -- as I try and find the weight that my body wants and needs to be. I was a chubby little boy, a "husky" teen, and a fat adult; maybe, here at 46, I can see what 'average' feels like. It's a boring word, but it sounds like damned fun to me.

If there's anybody out there who isn't sure if they can do this -- if you're worried that you're too old or too out of shape or too far gone to give it a try -- take it from me, who started from a place of pain, and who has no particularly amazing willpower or knowledge: YOU'VE GOT THIS. It is far, far easier than you think once you lean into it, and we're all here for you. Give it a try -- you've got everything to lose.

UPDATE, 11am PST: I have to run to a meeting -- it's been great answering questions, and I will get to them as soon as I'm done with work later today. For now, thank you thank you for all of the kind comments and endless support!!!

You went from being random middle aged man at a grocery store to a guy who would approach me at a bar, seriously 20 years younger!
