If I had to guess, the investors are probably the ones who asked for Pokemon to have a new release every year.

No one asked for Pokémon to be released every year.

I reckon TPCi and Nintendo with their merch deals, TCG deals and show would beg to differ.

I hate yearly releases. I formerly played CoD every year and it just went downhill after 2012. It's sad to see my first gaming franchise go to this route and start half-assing it. I highly prefer games like pokemon every 3-4 years just for quality and high replayability. Here's to hoping that the gen 4 remakes are absolutely not ruined...

Edit: I would also like to mention that CoD at least makes updates to the game to make it better (depending on the state of the game and in terms of gameplay balance) AND add more content, unlike Pokémon, which will just be unchanged throughout each game’s lifecycle, only bug fixes at most. Still, that doesn’t change the fact that yearly releases make a game half-assed, CoD or Pokémon or neither.
