I’ve faced something similar. I have 20+ years’ experience in my field. No degree. Applied for a position where they actually wanted someone with a minimum 2 year degree. They actually told me that my 20 years’ experience wasn’t worth as much to them as someone with a 2 year degree and no experience. Don’t think I’ll ever work for that place.
I once interviewed at a private firm for a tax attorney position that offered $40,000/year for an estimated 50 hours per week and no benefits.
It was a full time, permanent attorney position. Not a paralegal, not a legal secretary, not a receptionist. I probably would have laughed had I not been so shocked by the offer.
