The people that do this are literally the worst. Living abroad, I always try to pick up some local language to get me by but ultimately I’m the one to blame if I can’t communicate with them.

I'll never understand people who go to foreign countries and are annoyed or offended by the residents not speaking English.
I don't have a problem with people not knowing a language. It can be difficult and maybe you don't have time to go learn japanese ahead of that 2 week vacation that will be literally the only time in your life that knowing the language will be useful.
But for the love, don't just expect people in a foreign country to know your language. Insanity.

Just yesterday a girl apologized to me because her accent speaking English is strong.
I told her she doesn't get to apologize since I'm in her country.
I hated when people act like that.
