Wait a Minute! Were Friends, Seinfeld and Mad About You Actually All Connected?

Seinfeld, Mad About You and Friends are three very beloved NBC sitcoms set in New York. But, wait a minute: Were they actually set in the same universe?! Could it be?

We are seriously stumped after taking a closer look at all the crossovers over the years. (What? It's our dayjob! And we burn easily in summertime!)

We'll walk you through what we know...

All three shows were on at the same time during their runs: Mad About You ran from 1992-1999, Friends from 1994-2004 and Seinfeld from 1989-1998.

Mad About You was definitely set in the "universe" as Friends. Ursula, Phoebe's twin sister who was also played by Lisa Kudrow, was a waitress on Mad About You, working at Riff's, a popular dinner spot.

But Jerry Seinfeld dated Courtney Cox in Seinfeld and her name wasn't Monica!

In the friends documentary that came on E!, they talk about how Lisa Kudrow was contracted to work for Mad About You, but if it failed, then she could move right to friends. It’s pretty interesting how the contracts and such work.

Must be the NBC universe
