Sometimes I'll try to outpace them just so I'm not lingering behind them. But then I realize I'm probably even more creepy speed walking up behind them.
I was once walking on a (short 2 mile figure 8) hiking trail and passed a woman with two dogs twice. On the second pass, she stopped me and asked how to get back to the trail-head as she was lost in the figure 8. I said she could follow me and I scooped up her little dog because it was exhausted and refused to walk. She said she had called her husband to come rescue her. When we got to the parking lot, I helped load the dogs up into her SUV and her husband came driving up. She then got awkward and was like, "what do we tell my husband?" I was confused and said, "well we tell him the truth that I helped lead you to the trail-head." She looked concerned and said, "well it looks bad with you loading the dogs and us being together" and I replied, "Well I'm gay so there was 0 chance of anything promiscuous happening" and she said, "Oh that's a good one we will go with that." lmao. She opened to her husband, "This kind gay man rescued me and the pups!" and I introduced myself to him. His face changed to a big smile. It was a strange event. lol
