I used to deliver pizza when I was younger so I'd get gas almost every single night. Most nights it was the same older lady working there, and we got to be pretty friendly. One night she asked for a hug and then said she was retiring and it was her last shift but she wanted to let me know I was her favorite customer. It really hit me hard.

That’s really cool.

I lived in a sketchy part of Chicago about 8 years back. Pretty gnarly blocks. Never talked to my neighbors. But, one day, (I was a dumbass 25-year-old then) I stumble home blackout drunk.

Left the keys in my door. And the door open.

Next morning, I wake up to my landlord asking if I was OK—the neighbors across the hall took my keys, closed up, and called her to ensure I was OK.

Good neighbors are such an amazing thing. In Chicago, there is real sense of taking care and watching out for each other. Surely is in most every city. But, that’s my experience I can quote.

Either way, this is rad. Totally dig it.
