After being home schooled all of my life, not feeling like I would be anything more than a cashier, I am the first of my generation in my big family to graduate from college.

Congrats!! This is awesome! I dropped out of high school just like my grandmother, mom, aunts and sister. I went back and did my GED and finished my associate’s, then bachelor’s. I’m now 1.5 semesters away from completing my MBA fully funded by work. It’s an amazing feeling! I always thought I hated school but in reality it was just high school/stupid bs.

Cheers to you and all of your future achievements!!

I'm proud of you for your accomplishment! It's an awesome deal!

But, for all the cashiers reading this, for all the people who've not got degrees reading this - you are not less than. You are capable or incapable, you are working towards something or you're not - and it doesn't matter. Where and if you went to college, what you do for a living - those things are not measurements of your worth or value. This is a post celebrating a person who made a goal and met it. Could've just as easily been a celebration of time sober, weight lost, fear overcome, etc. Please, if you're a cashier or don't have a degree, please don't let your takeaway from this post be that you're lacking in some way. You're not.
